[시사뷰타임즈] 훙콩 거물 사업가이자 애플 데일리 신문사 사주이기도 한 지미 라이가 보석금을 내고 석방됐다.

라이는 베이징이 도입한 신 국가보안법 하에서 체포됐었는데, 베이징은 라이를 외국 세력과 공모했다며 체포했었다.

라이는 저명한 친 민주주의 목소리이자 지난해 폭발한 시위 지지자로서 대단히 유명한 사람이다.

지난 6월 신 국가보안법이 통과됐을 때, 라이는 BBC에 “홍콩의 조종(弔鐘)을 울리는 것”이라고 한 바 있었다.

Hong Kong media tycoon Jimmy Lai released on bail

Jimmy Lai, a Hong Kong business tycoon and owner of the Apple Daily newspaper, has been released on bail.

 

Mr Lai was arrested under new security laws brought in by Beijing, who have accused him of colluding with foreign forces.

 

Mr Lai has been a prominent pro-democracy voice and a supporter of protests that erupted last year.

 

When the security law was passed in June, Mr Lai told the BBC that this "spells the death knell for Hong Kong
